The new HFEC building has changed from a green exterior to a black exterior as vapor barrier has been applied over the sheathing. Exterior brick work has started on the south side of the building and will continue around the building until completed.
 
Most of the interior walls, both masonry and stud, are completed. Ductwork and stairwells are being installed. Electrical and plumbing work will continue until the project is complete.

The project is still scheduled for completion in time for basketball season this fall.

By the numbers...

  • There will be about 500,000 lbs of steel in the building.
  • The vertical support columns are about 7,000 lbs each.
  • The trusses are 25,000 lbs each.
  • About 1,100 yards of concrete have been poured to form the walls.
